Brian Valente talks about the Redrock Micro microRemote Follow Focus System at NAB 2010.

The microRemote System is composed of a few pieces. The components that make up this system are the micro base station, the redrock torq motor, the microTape, and the microRemote handheld controller. The system is also compatible with the M-One motor from Palomar. Brian states that the Redrock torq motor will be just as good, but a lot cheaper that the M-One motor. The micro base station is the brains of the follow focus system and allows you to calibrate your lenses.  All of the components plug into the base station as a central point of contact and base station communicates wireless from the remote. If you can not use the wireless because of restrictions, you can connect directly to the base station from the remote and run it wired. The entire follow focus control system can be powered by an anton battery pack. The microTape is a sonar based range finder with a digital LED display. The microTape range finder is effective under 100 feet. The basic microRemote has a button for power, lens direction (forward or reverse), and rec buuton. The remote wheel / dial is a fully function wheel, that has physical hard stops (not a floating wheel). In and out points can be set mechanically. The microRemote iPhone or iPod touch controller gives you complete calibration for a variety of lenses. You can also calibrate you own set of lenses. The Redrock miro app will be able to receive updates. So as Redrock updates things you will be able to get the new updates as well. This controller actually fits in the basic remote control, just lift up the top cover and the basic control board slide down allowing you to insert your iphone or ipod touch. This gives you all of the readings like focal position, aperture, focal range, sonar range finder readings, and much much more. By pressing the auto focus button, the controller will takeover and control focus, based on the microTape sonar. This gives you auto focus for motion on prime lenses (WOW).  Great for small camera crews, that don't have a dedicated focus puller. This product will definitely be a game changer is the world of HDSLR (HD DSLR).

Price point around $1000.00
